Lucknow: In a major late-night reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh Home Department transferred four IPS officers, bringing a significant change to the Lucknow Police Commissionerate. The most notable move is the appointment of IPS Vikrant Veer as the new DCP Central, Lucknow, marking his return to active service after suspension in the 2020 Hathras case.
Vikrant Veer, a 2014-batch IPS officer known for his strict and disciplined policing style, has previously served in Agra, Moradabad, Barabanki, Kanpur and other key districts. After a departmental review and completion of inquiries, the state government allowed his reinstatement, handing him one of the most sensitive posts in the capital.
The Central Zone of Lucknow includes the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s Residence, High Court Bench and key VIP routes—making the DCP Central position one of the most crucial in the state.
Other key transfers include:
- IPS Anirudh Kumar Singh, formerly SP CID Lucknow, appointed Commandant, 28th Battalion PAC Etawah.
- IPS Ashish Srivastava, outgoing DCP Central, shifted as SP, Security Headquarters.
- IPS Anil Kumar Singh, also posted as SP, Security Headquarters.
Sources say the changes aim to improve law and order, address growing public complaints over traffic enforcement, street crimes, and restore public trust.
With Vikrant Veer’s return, expectations are high for stronger policing, women’s safety measures, and better coordination in VIP security across Lucknow.

The new postings were announced through an official order issued by the DGP Headquarters, impacting the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, Security Headquarters, Etawah Battalion, and the CID unit.
In other developments, DCP Ashish Srivastava, a 2013-batch IPS officer serving in the Lucknow Commissionerate, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Security Headquarters.
Changes in Etawah Battalion and CID Lucknow
Former Commander of the 28th Battalion, Etawah, Anil Kumar Singh, has also been posted as SP, Security Headquarters. Meanwhile, IPS Anirudh Kumar, who was serving as SP, CID Lucknow, has been appointed the new Commander of the 28th Battalion, Etawah.
This reshuffle is seen as an effort by the state government to enhance policing efficiency, strengthen law and order, and streamline administration across crucial departments in Uttar Pradesh.
